Maestro Bruce is a semi-retired business executive from Phoenix, Arizona, US. After a 40-year career of business ownership, team leadership, project management, marketing and finance, Bruce decided to pursue his passion for language and teaching. In 2010 he certified with TEFL and TESOL and then trained for teaching ESL (English Second Language) at a prestigious translation and language school in Rio de Janeiro. Working in adult education with the Brazilian government, Brazilian military, Azul (JetBlue) Airlines and translating during the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics, he realized that teaching language would fulfill his need to ‘give back’ and also achieve his retirement ambitions. So in 2016 Bruce made his way to Nogales, Sonora, Mexico and opened InglesYa! English school for adult managers in the Maquiladora industry. Nogales is a thriving industrial border town with 140 Maquiladoras employing around 40,000 workers. Seven years later, over 700 students have graduated from the ESL program and about 100 are active at any given time. Classes are usually at capacity and in demand. Clients include multinational corporations such as Amphenol-Optimize, Kimberly Clark, Badger Meter and Carlisle Interconnect.
